Community Summary

Heritage Ridge is located in Fruitland Township, Muskegon County, between the communities of North Muskegon and Whitehall. Lake Michigan, White Lake, and Duck Lake are the major geographic attractions of Fruitland Township. Other attractions of Fruitland Township include * Duck Lake State Park, * White River Light Station, and Bent Pine Golf Course.

Fruitland Township derived its name mostly from fruit crops which have been harvested in the township since the begining. Fruitland Towship's "Blueberry Festival", which is held annualy in July celebrates its agricultural history.

 

* Duck Late State Park is a 728-acre park which offers a sandy beach, beach house, picnic shelters, boat launch, hiking, sking and snowmobile trails. This park also provides a boardwalk access to Lake Michigan. Duck Lake is a good finishing and swimming lake.

 

* White Rover Light Station was built in 1875 by William Robinson and now serves as a museum and is open to the public.
